76 - PLANT DESIGN - DAVE EDWARDS - COLOURED PENCILS - 1998

I went through a phase of using coloured pencils ten years ago and then dropped them in favour of watercolours. I don’t know why really and now I am back to liking coloured pencils, especially after seeing all the great coloured pencil art on Redbubble.

How come all of your art is 10 years old or more Dave? Do you have anything new? :)

    Just teasing… really strong technique!

  • BLYTHART replied

If your world-famous attention span permits a good browse through my portfolio you will find some new stuff Jackie (only teasing you). I am just showing off that I have pictures I did before some of Redbubble were born. I am busy with a picture, but as it is taking a while I am putting old stuff on to test it out. I am having a period of reviewing my old work to decide where to take my art next … whether to develop old ideas further or try something new .. or both maybe.

That was long… barely made it to the end… now what did you say again?

Come on dave, you’re not that old….. lolol teasing too…. actually you look young, well we have our moods, I used to use pen, pencil, charcoal…....., and then had the courage to use oil….....now trying acrylic…......but again I feel more comfortable with pencil, no mess when I work, or if I get busy or disturbed, I will not worry that the work are is wet or have to finish the colors before they dry. Love your colored pencil art and your unique drawings. xoxoxoxooxoxoxo to you.

Love the way that you have created textures with the coloured pencils this gives the work a 3d look.

This is a really nice plant design, very original. Plus the colours work great together. It somewhat reminds me of art nouveau, which I really love. Nice work. =D

I for one am glad you returned to coloured pencils

  • BLYTHART replied

Thanks Deb … it is artists like yourself who have inspired me to use coloured pencils again. Having said that, my current picture I am working on is ink and watercolour … aren’t I contrary ;) If you are writing your comments while you are at work, may I just point out that the boss is standing behind you (bet you looked).
