Splash
A splash frozen in time. A cherry dropped into a glass of water breaks an infra red beam, triggering a high speed flash. An exposure time of 1/30,000s captures every detail.
Splash belongs to the following groups:
A Class of Its Own, All About Water, Artistic Libation ~ Spirits In Art, Corporate Art/Themes, Masterpiece: Photography, Shameless Self-Promotion and Technical Photography Available for sale asGreeting Cards

I love it when art meets technology (and isn’t photography awesome that way?). A great shot – I love the splash but also the air that the cherry has dragged down into the water with it, and the distinct black heart shape. I also really like the reflections of blue and red colour in the image. Very, very cool.

RoyalFox
this is wonderful :) um i was just wondering how do you do make the back ground and everything like white, like a studio kinda thing?
Jurgen Dabeedin replied
Hi Royal. Yes, this was a studio shot, taken on 5×4” transparency film (remember that?!). The white background is from the high speed flash used to take the image. The red comes from a filtered light placed beneath the glass.
Jurgen Dabeedin
Thanks to Khadhy, Molly, DiEtte and RoyalFox!
I do try to sell the picture around Valentines day because of the heart shape! For Royal: The whole shot is backlit using a special high speed flash, which makes it white. It was a studio shot captured in total darkness on 5×4’ transparency film on a Sinar stand camera. This is about the 10th attempt and the one I liked best because of it’s asymmetry.
