This was done more than ten years ago. I was part of group of artists that met at Elyria Park Nature Center on Mt. Washington, an artsy neighborhood in the hills near downtown LA ,once every two weeks to draw. We saved the hastle and expense of hiring a model by posing ourselves, or inviting friends to pose. When I pulled this picture out, I couldn’t remember the model, but upon reflection, I think he was an artist who went to restaurants and bars in Pasadena at night to draw patrons. He drew on vellum, and it worked very well. He didn’t come all of the time, but he, indeed, was the sort of person with whom you easily could be friends. The sofa was in the little nature center building where we met—I think it was an old farm house, and I’m not sure it’s still there.
