While visiting the Kananaskis. Alberta Canada area earlier this summer I came across this wildflower growing on a steep rocky mountainside.
BEST VIEWED LARGE
A very striking plant this penstemon variety nitimus is extremely common along the eastern front of Glacier Park, Montana and Waterton Lakes National Parks. It blooms in early summer. This plant is found to be on the eastern faceing side of exposed peaks.

Love scenery, wildlife and anything that catches my eye as being unique. Have a Canon Rebel XSI with a 100mm – 400mm Lens that allows me to get some wonderful captures!

What a wee beauty, Leslie! A lovely capture, indeed. I haven’t seen them in these parts, but we do have the Hairy Beardtongue. Sounds like a Viking’s name! :o)
Thanks so much Mike. This one is an alpine dweller I’m afraid and I’m pretty sure you don’t have any mountains LOL I was glad there was a guard rail to lean on and John was behind to grab my jacket just in case …. the slope was some steep:>)) Leslie
