This is a beautiful Alpine Tiger Lily although it is recognized as a common misnomer. It averages about 6 to 8 inches in height and tends to grow in ditches as a favored habitat near as I could find as that is where it finds moisture accumulation. However tracking any information on this species was next to impossible to find other then small references here and there and one brief mention that it was an endangered species. So if there is a glaring error here I beg forgiveness and will willingly correct. It is most probably grouped with Canada Lilies, Wood Lilies and Prairie Lilies.

Lilium Philadelphicum

• Family: Lily (Liliaceae)
• Flower size: 2 inches across
• Flower color: red-orange
• Flowering time: June to August
• Origin: native

Habitat: Usually found in roadside ditches as they are a source of moisture accumulation

Other Common Names:
Orange Cup, Wild Orange Lily, Tiger Lily

Lill -ee-Uum Fill-uh-Dell-Fih-Kum
