Fort Amherst by Leslie van de Ligt

This is a distance shot of this lovely place. It has been lovingly restored and now has history interpreted in every room. The original lighthouse went into operation in 1813 and the present structure dates to 1952. Fort Amherst is across the narrows from Signal Hill – a reminder of how much protection St. John’s must have needed in the early days. It requires some effort to get there as in a fairly lengthy steep climb to get there but was worth while. St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada
