I found this gem sitting in the middle of a farmers field after the land had been sub-divided. For the life of me it looked as if he had simply unhooked it in the middle of the hay field from his tractor and driven away. I mean right in the middle. So I wondered if he was late for an appointment, had an argument with his wife or just gave up on it and never went back. Grain Seeders or Grass Seeders were regarded as inexpensive alternatives to the grain drills at that time.Near Sherwood Park, Alberta Rebel XSI

I am an amateur photographer from Sherwood Park, Alberta Canada.
Love scenery, wildlife and anything that catches my eye as being unique. Have a Canon Rebel XSI with a 100mm – 400mm Lens that allows me to get some wonderful captures!

Great find Leslie, my Dad used one of these many years ago, actually pulled by horses…I still have an old B&W of my oldest brother filling it with seeds.
Thanks Larry. A few people want to call this a seed drill but this was used in lieu of and was more viable cost wise as well. I would have loved to see it in use with a team of horses. :>)) Leslie

Beautiful picture! Unfortunately it is not a Van Brunt drill it is an International Harvester Company drill.
Hi JD, I checked this one out pretty well and it is not a drill. These seeders were really popular because they were cheaper and money was hard for many farmers at that time. There is nothing on this piece of equip to give a name and International should have been in the cast iron somewhere on this baby but it’s nowhere to be found, This would have been pulled behind a team of horses. I looked a a lot of sites before I found one like it. My husband thought it would be a drill as well, but there are actually discs in front of where the seed in drops down from the wood tray. So I thank you for your opinion, I value others opinion and input greatly. Regards Leslie
