At the age of 71 this brick maker graciously allowed me to take his picture. One hand resting on bricks he had so painstaking made. He starts with water diverted to his property, and then mixes two kinds of of clay by hand. From there he packs the mixture into a wooden frame that produces four bricks. Then these are allowed to dry in the sun. Roberto then removes the bricks from the tray. When he has enough bricks they are stacked into a homemade kiln which is heated by wood and fired for several hours until they are cured. He receives $ 85.00 for each 1000 bricks he produces. Roberto stated proudly that he started this at the age of fifteen and now his son does this job as well. Taken on our trip to Mexico. Kodak C743
lovely capture – the day he stops will be the day he starts getting problems!!
Thank you Pamela. With the standard of living he has no plans of stopping. He says one day his body will just stop. That will be the day he stops. Quite the philosophy. :>))Leslie
