True to many old tractors that have weathered the elements, this old John Deere has lost it’s color along the way. This tractor sits on my son-in-laws farm west of Barrhead, Alberta.Canon A520
The John Deere Model AR Tractor was first produced in 1935 and continued until 1948 when it became the last John Deere model to be “styled”, the final version of which was produced in 1953. The R meant Regular or Standard-tread and featured a non-adjustable front axle. All Model AR.’s were built at the John Deere, Waterloo, Iowa factory. The two cylinder petrol/kerosene horizontal engine had a bore of 5 1/2 inches and a stroke of 6 3/4 inches, maximum engine speed was 975 r.p.m. Transmission was via a four forward and one reverse speed gearbox. A total of 34,075 Model AR,s were built.
Great find ,is that part of a hay sweep with the long clyinders well done like the pile of home cut lumber great job Cheers John
Hi John. My son-in-law says they are just rams for the front end loader that attached to the bucket or hay fork. He never heard his father refer to them as as a hay sweep. I’ll pass the compliment on the well done woodpile along as it will be appreciated. Thank you for comments. Leslie
Thank you very much. One of my favs. Old and Rusty like some of in the mornings (grin) Happy Easter.:>)) Leslie
