We have a large family and one Christmas cake is never enough, so my husband bakes at least two to last into the New Year, in addition to other, well loved Christmas treats. He uses the traditional English recipes by Mrs. Beaton – the Victorian equivalent of a celebrity chef.

I dedicate this picture of one of our cakes to all my RedBubble friends to thank you for your support and encouragement throughout 2012.
I wish we could all get together in the literal sense. Then Michael would have to bake at least a couple of dozen of these delicious iced fruit cakes! I chose the title because the reindeer appears to be trying to kiss Santa. This was quite by accident. I did not notice it until I had transferred the image from my camera to my computer
My life is divided between teaching Music and Photography. The instruments I play are organ, piano, clarinet and saxophone. I taught German and Spanish before my retirement, but since I got my digital camera no longer have time for them!

Thank you, Rasim. Underneath the white icing, which is made from the white of eggs and icing sugar, there is a layer of almond icing and then the cake itself is full of raisins, currents, chopped peel and glace cherries. Many people add nuts too. It is delicious and keeps for a couple of months in an airtight container in a cool place.
