The word “lochan” in Gaelic is a diminutive form of “loch” and means “a little lake”. This little loch is situated between the tiny village of Holm and Stornoway, the largest centre of population of the Isle of Lewis. Before the modern infrastructure was laid, this little loch was the only source of fresh water for miles around. This sunset shot was taken from the Holm side of the lochan. A gentle breeze was blowing, so that small ripples can be discerned on the surface of the water. Camera details:- Canon PowerShot S3 IS, Night setting, hand held
