Nature's Goblet - The Birds and the Bees by

A pretty pink Cape daisy growing in our garden in the North-East of England after a very heavy summer shower. The rain descended so suddenly that the daisy did not have time to close its petals to protect its delicate reproductive apparatus from the rain. This would not have pleased the bees, who would be desirous for nectar, but some thirsty bird would have regarded it as a bonus! Where I can do so without breaking the stem, I tilt the flower to get rid of the surplus water. Photographed with my Canon PowerShot S3 IS camera, Supermacro setting

My life is divided between teaching Music and Photography. The instruments I play are organ, piano, clarinet and saxophone. I taught German and Spanish before my retirement, but since I got my digital camera no longer have time for them!

Very pretty and I am sure the bees appreciated your efforts Kathryn. ~Sam

  • Thank you, Sam. Unfortunately, with this particular flower, the risk of breaking the stem would have been too great, so I just had to leave it for the birds.
