An vibrant purple allium bud unfolding into a beautiful blossom against a background of yellow pansies. Alliums are also known as ornamental onions and insects give them a wide berth. Straight from the camera.

Very pretty! :) I haven’t grown these, are they easy to grow?

    Gabe :)

  • Thank you, Gabe. Yes, they are no trouble at all, as they are bulbs, but they have the added bonus of not being liked by insects. They come up a little later than the tulips, but before the lilies.

Love these but it’s a bit too hot for them down here in the South. Very pretty capture Kathyrn! ~Sam

  • Thank you, Sam. Have you tried planting them in planters on the North side of your property in winter and in the shade? In other words, a sort of greenhouse in reverse!
