Featured in THE WORLD AS WE SEE IT OR AS WE MISSED IT! on 11 October 2012
These stunning pink flowers which came up in our garden every spring for three years could well be described as “Poetry in Motion”! We had no idea of their name as we did not plant them! We eventually found out that they are called “Ixia” and are members of the iris family and natives of Southern Africa. During the time that they flourish strong winds blow in from the North Sea, so that the flowers are continually swaying on their slender stems, making them difficult to capture. Sadly the brutal winter we had last year was too much for their tiny bulbs.Location: South Shields, a coastal town in Tyne and Wear, England, UK. Camera details:- Canon PowerShot S3 IS, Macro mode.
