A macro shot of a blossom from our neighbour’s beautiful deep purple buddleja bush overhanging our garden wall. The buddleja is often known as the butterfly plant or butterfly bush, because it is so attractive to butterflies, though bees and moths visit it in significant numbers too! Location: North-East of England

My life is divided between teaching Music and Photography. The instruments I play are organ, piano, clarinet and saxophone. I taught German and Spanish before my retirement, but since I got my digital camera no longer have time for them!

Excellent macro Kathryn, I’ve never seen this flower before.

  • Thank you, Ralph. They are very large shrubs, so not many people have gardens big enough to let them grow to their full size. Fortunately our neighbour has one and the funny thing is that the blossoms that overlook the dividing wall between our gardens and face north are better than the ones on his side of the fence, which face south!
