Five “Antique Blue” Cape daisies growing in our garden in the North-East of England. Whenever I see groupings of five things, it brings to mind “Take Five”, Dave Brubeck’s signature classic and a long standing favourite of mine.
Enjoy this cool and understated version from 1972!

My life is divided between teaching Music and Photography. The instruments I play are organ, piano, clarinet and saxophone. I taught German and Spanish before my retirement, but since I got my digital camera no longer have time for them!

These are lovely… I’ve known them as African Daisy.. invasive if not kept in control…I had them up a lattice! Lovely POV

  • Thank you, Sharlee. They are also known as African daisies over here, but mainly as Cape daisies, since South Africa is where they come from. I am very fond of them. There is no danger of them getting out of control in our climate, which is much harsher than what they are used to in their native habitat. They often survive into early autumn, but are killed off once temperatures move towards zero.

Beautiful flowers. A fave. Enjoyed the music.

  • Thank you, Judy. I have never met Dave Brubeck, who is now aged 90, but I did have the opportunity of meeting three of his sons, when they were on tour in the UK earlier this year.
