Five Pink Petals - Tiny Flower in Mirrored Frame by

I was given some pretty pink flowers by a neighbour, but he did not know what they were called. Nor did I! Thanks to fellow RedBubble artist, edesigns, I now know that they are called “cranesbill”, a variety of hardy geranium, which explains why they grow well in our gardens here, in the North-East of England! They flower from late spring until early autumn. This is one of its first flowers of 2011. 16.12.11, UK, 331 views, 1 favoriting
Enjoy the superb sax playing of Paul Desmond backed by the formidable piano work of Dave Brubeck in “Take Five” (recorded in 1972

My life is divided between teaching Music and Photography. The instruments I play are organ, piano, clarinet and saxophone. I taught German and Spanish before my retirement, but since I got my digital camera no longer have time for them!

Hi Kathy lovely shot I think?? this is a hardy geranium, I have a blue one called Johnsons Blue. I think there is a pink geranium called Mrs kendall but can’t be sure if this is that one.

  • Thank you very much, Lyn. I think that I have seen the “Johnsons Blue” in some gardening catalogue, though I cannot now remember which one. They are beautiful flowers.

Kathy just looked it up on the internet you have a flower called Cranesbill which is a hardy geranium. This will come up year after year and is very lovely.

  • I have uploaded a picture of them to say “Thank you” and put it in the “Just for You” group.

If you look through The flower Expert by Dr Hessayon it will tell you in there. I have a series of these books and they prove invaluable.

  • Thank you, Lyn. That sounds like a most useful resource.
