“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” (Psalms 127:3). Dedicated to all people who take on the difficult role of being substitute parents. All children are a gift from God.
The Germans call pansies “Stiefmuetterchen” which means “little stepmothers”. I never thought that my pop music crazy, football mad student son would ever get married. As it was, he fell in love with a girl who had two small children – a boy of three and a girl of two – by a previous relationship. When people saw this ginger headed hulk feeding this tiny little girl with blond hair, they could hardly believe their eyes, but his step children have proved to be the making of him, and he and his wife have been blessed with four children of their own. Unfortunately the natural father would not give his consent for adoption, so that is why they are our step grandchildren and not our adoptive grandchildren. Not that we treat them any differently to our natural grandchildren.
