It was a beautiful, sunny spring morning. Pretty warm, but very windy… I was walking down the street on my way to my job when a brilliant gust of wind whipped my cap from my head and sent is spiraling down the sidewalk. I must have looked like a fool chasing after it! When I was still in high school I had purchased the cap, while shopping with one of my best friends. She actually got me the cap, and I got her a ring… it was a brilliant blue diamond stone, set in silver, and reminded me of the wonderful sheen of her pretty blue eyes. She was beautiful, a brilliant, talented girl, but we were only friends… I loved her more than anything, but we parted ways and went off to college. I hadn’t heard from her since, but had no other girl I loved more than her. Its funny, really, that here I was, some ten odd years later, chasing my favorite cap down the sidewalk halfway around the world, thinking about her. The wind let down a bit, and as I rushed to grab my cap from the ground… I guess I didn’t see the young woman in the pink dress stepping out of the shop, and she didn’t see me until it was too late. But in that moment I saw her pretty blue eyes and had a recollection of my friend. we tumbled over right there on the sidewalk. My, what people must have thought about it! I reached out my shaking hand to help her up, and as she grasped it I saw the silver ring set with a brilliant blue diamond…
