A dramatic sky formed the perfect backdrop for this image of old headstones in front of the historic Christ Church at Bong Bong.
Built in 1845 by Charles Throsby, this heritage listed Church is one of the oldest buildings in the Southern Highlands.
The adjoining cemetery is the resting place of many pioneers of the Southern Highlands district, including my own ancestors, the Hines family.
The headstone in the foreground is that of Eliza Ann Payne (nee Roach), died 28 September 1891, and her husband Charles Salter Payne, died 28 February 1892.
