Artist's Description

The White-headed Stilt or Pied Stilt is a shorebird. This attractive bird has a long black beak and even longer red legs.

This one decided to do a balancing act on one leg, with its beak buried beneath its feathers.

It is sometimes treated as a distinct species (Himantopus leucocephalus) and sometimes included in with the Common or Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus leucocephalus).

NSW, Australia.

Canon 400D, as is.
