Tebbutt's Observatory, Windsor by

John Tebbutt was a pioneer in the field of astronomy.

He was credited with discovering the “Great Comet of 1861”.

The Observatories, built in 1879 and 1894 by John Tebbutt, housed his telescopes. Here, he discovered many meteorological phenomena and conducted many measurements.

These historic sandstone buildings have now been placed on the National Trust list.

An old Cabbage Tree palm (Livistona australis) stands silently nearby.

Windsor, NSW, Australia.

Canon 400D.

I live in Australia and enjoy bushwalking in the great outdoors, especially the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.

My photographic interests are pretty much related to Australian landscapes, rustic Australia, historic Australia, Australian wildlife, flora, fauna, birds, etc. Guess I love the country I was born and live in.
