This interesting beetle was captured nibbling on a yellow drumstick. The insect is a native cockroach (Ellipsidion sp.).
The yellow spring-flowering Broad-leaved Drumstick (Isopogon anemonifolius) is a shrub that is endemic to eastern New South Wales, Australia.
Captured in the Royal National Park, Sydney, NSW. Australia.

Great shot Michael, so detailed and sharp ! Not sure I like that beetle though, he looks too much like a cockroach for my liking.. yukky ! They are the only thing that freaks me out in the world.. brrr ! But he is photographed beautifully :) I have never seen a yellow coneflower, the ones in W.A are mostly pink, so it’s an interesting shot for me, thanks ! I will have to get out into the NSW bush and get cracking with flower shots :)
