Birds in Australia by Michael John

These two seagulls (silver gulls) landed on a flat rock, right in front of Australia Rock. They were good enough to remain just long enough for me to take this photo.

The hole, known as ‘Australia Rock’ (for obvious reasons) has formed in the hard rock, resulting in an almost perfect map of Australia.

This amazing sight (perhaps minus the birds) can be found at Narooma, NSW, Australia.

Canon 400D, as is.

I live in Australia and enjoy bushwalking in the great outdoors, especially the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.

My photographic interests are pretty much related to Australian landscapes, rustic Australia, historic Australia, Australian wildlife, flora, fauna, birds, etc. Guess I love the country I was born and live in.

Aren’t you a lucky guy Michael. I know you have an image of just the rock but to go back and have the two seagulls in a perfect position for your shot is amazing.

  • I sure am! Thanks Ralph.

Great shot Michael – did you bribe them with your lunch or something?! :-)
The composition (even down to the placement of the distant horizon) and the colouring/exposure and depth of field is spot on (not too blurry in the background, but not too sharp either!) – well done & excellent capture!

  • Thanks for your great comments Tim, and for the fave. No – there was no bribing! They were quite happy just sit there and wait for me to get the camera set up to snap them.
