I visited the great rock a number of years ago and made the climb. It is quite steep (60°) and requires chains in some sections. These chains can be seen in the photo.
Climbing Uluru is a popular attraction for visitors. A chain handhold added in 1964 and extended in 1976 makes the hour-long climb easier, but it is still a long (800m) and steep hike to the top.
Ayers Rock, also referred to as Uluru, is a large arkose sandstone rock formation in the Northern Territory, central Australia.
Uluru is a part of the Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park and is listed as a World Heritage Site. It is one of Australia’s most recognisable natural icons.

Great contrasting colours Michael that make a very beautiful image. You forgot to mention the wonderful views from the top. I climbed this as well about 22 years ago. Too old now to even contemplate it. I believe they have now banned people climbing it.
Thanks Ralph. Yes, the view from above is breathtaking. They discourage people from climbing, but not banned yet.
