Sturt’s Desert Pea (Swainsona formosa) is an Australian plant famous for its distinctive blood-red leaf-like flowers, each with a bulbous black centre. It is one of Australia’s best known wildflowers.
This unusual and rarely seen flower was photographed in outback South Australia, which is appropriate, as it is the floral emblem of that state.
