One of my favourite walks in Australia is the Main Range Track (23km circuit) from Charlotte’s Pass. This full day walk explores some of the greatest alpine country on offer in NSW.

The walk provides views of Blue Lake, climbs to the top of Mt Kosciuszko and crosses the famous Snowy River.

This main range circuit is one of the classic walks in New South Wales.

The Blue Lake is one of only four cirque lakes found in mainland Australia.

Its valley contains the best-developed glacial features in the Kosciuszko National Park alpine area of New South Wales, Australia.

The lake receives water from Blue Lake Creek, originating from Mount Twynam and from snowmelt. The surface of the lake is frozen for about four months of the year; it overflows in spring with the melting of the snow.

Blue Lake is surrounded by alpine herbfield, heaths, bogs and fens supporting a range of native plants and animals.

I live in Australia and enjoy bushwalking in the great outdoors, especially the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.

My photographic interests are pretty much related to Australian landscapes, rustic Australia, historic Australia, Australian wildlife, flora, fauna, birds, etc. Guess I love the country I was born and live in.

Done that climb twice. First time it was like this, second time it was covered in snow and the path was difficul to see.. snow drifts to.. scary stuff but we did it..though Nice shooting mate :)

  • The mountain weather is very changeable, but I suppose that only adds to the adventure. Still, I would prefer a nice day like this!
