The white marble was carved during the late 1800s and is now partly covered with vines and moss.

The statue contains a number of symbolic carvings:

  • Anchor – steadfast hope
  • Finger pointing upward – the soul has gone to the heavens
  • Five pointed star – the Epiphany or the star of Jesse or Jacob, heavenly wisdom
  • Sheaf of wheat – longevity and fruitfulness. It denotes that one has lived a long and fruitful life.
