This historic wooden bridge spans a narrow gorge at Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. The bridge dates from the early 1900s.
Imagine having to cross this! Well it was all part of the experience for hikers of yesteryear on the 6km Kings Canyon Rim Walk. Luckily for us modern-day walkers there is a new bridge nearby, but the original bridge has stood the test of time and displays an old remembrance plaque on the right.

I live in Australia and enjoy bushwalking in the great outdoors, especially the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.
My photographic interests are pretty much related to Australian landscapes, rustic Australia, historic Australia, Australian wildlife, flora, fauna, birds, etc. Guess I love the country I was born and live in.

Yikes .. it’s a long way down & it doesn’t look too stable. Thank god for upgrades. Nice one Mike.
lol…yes..it doesn’t look too supportive.

Great image … not only imagining having to cross the old bridge, but where the …. does one walk on the right side of the shot, if you’re not a mountain climber???
Thanks for the fav. lol – I thought the same thing. I suppose that only ‘serious’ walkers tackled this walk back then. I guess they had to scramble up the cliff face on the other side!
