Cradle Mountain, Tasmania by Michael John

Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, Tasmania, Australia.

This photo was captured on one of the rare cloudless and calm days to occur in this wilderness region.

The heritage listed Cradle Mountain is one of the principal tourist sites in Tasmania, owing to its natural beauty. It is an iconic image of Australia.

Mamiya ZM film, as is.

I live in Australia and enjoy bushwalking in the great outdoors, especially the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.

My photographic interests are pretty much related to Australian landscapes, rustic Australia, historic Australia, Australian wildlife, flora, fauna, birds, etc. Guess I love the country I was born and live in.

Great shot Michael. When I visited Dove Lake last March, it was raining, windy and bitterly cold. You were so lucky to get a beautiful day.

  • Thanks Ralph. Apparently there are only a handful of days which look like this. So yes, I was very lucky indeed.

oh wow, for a moment I thought I had entered a pic in a comp and hadn’t realised. I saw this magical place on day much the same as this…. amazing. Apparently it is only around 6 days of a year.

  • Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes that is correct – just a handful of days per year… we were very fortunate!
