Janbiyah

Janbiyah

The Janbiyah is part of the Traditional Yemeni Dress. Men used to wear these decorative belts and still do on a daily basis for protection when needed. This piece actually belongs to one of my uncles and is more that 50 years old.
I used the painting with light technique to highlight the beautiful details.

Janbiyah belongs to the following groups:

Art of the Middle East Available for sale as

Greeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Thank you all for your comments. I used the technique of painting with light. Putting my camera on bulb then I highlighted the parts I wanted with the flash light. It’s a very interesting technique, you should try it. Let me know if you need more detail on how to do it.

Great comp and a very creative use of light. There is a good balance between the shadows and highlights, and the overall light and warm tone gives the images richness and depth. very intricate details on the sheath and belt. a fantastic depiction of one of Yemen’s most known daggers. A great addition to the Art of the Middle East group.
