La Grande Arch, (or the big bloody arch as I call it lol) is located in the business district of Paris and stands at a whopping 110m. Designed by architect Johann Otto von Spreckelsen, construction began in 1982 and was finished in 1989 by his close mate Paul Andreu after Spreckelsens death. I love this building personally and I think all citys should have big brass “look at me” monuments, not for thier bravado but as a salute to those who dreamnt it and built it despite those around them who wanted to see them fail

    now why didnt i see that when I was there? Ahhh…cos I didnt go to the business district. Ill pop over there soon and see it! :-D Hard to tell the scale from this photo…are those ants at the bottom of it, people?? WOAH> Thats one bloody big arch.

  • Hey N, yup you should definitely take a wander over there if you get a chance, try and get to the top too as there are some great views (although you mught have to pay as you had to when I was there), that scaffolding structure in the middle is the lifts
