How many days did I cry,
Praying and begging for you to return,
Lost in a loneliness so deep and sorrowful,
Surrounded by memories bittersweet,
So beautiful yet so agonizing.
Sweet dreams and thoughts caress my mind,
But seep bitter poison in their falseness.
Tears keep falling for what these eyes have lost,
Your beautiful sunlight has left me in the dark,
My eyes clouded by the pain of constant rain,
The world is a little less clear without you.
This heart has nowhere to go,
This head has no soft shoulder to rest on,
This soul has no loving companion.
I’m not bitter, and I’m not sweet,
But my outlook is looking rather bleak.
I cry for what I love,
For what I have lost.
But despite my heavy aching heart,
I smile for having loved,
And been loved in return,
No matter how short the time it lasted.
A poem about heartbreak and being left with bittersweet memories that were beautiful when they happened but now they are all that is left.
