Surreality Tv
What is Reality anymore? Why is it that a dream is so definitely a dream? why do we wake up in the “Real World” and say ‘Oh it was just a dream’ why do we not wake up in the dream world and say the same?
A mind can wonder around trying to think of its reasons and what is absoluteness, but suddenly, once it is settled on a thought that pleases it, a train of supposed rationality crashes through the supports you spent so much time building and fortifying. A sudden Boom and in an instant your ideas of reality become ruble and burning carnage, your thoughts destroyed beyond recognition. At this moment you find yourself lost once more, with an inability to find your way down again because you have no clue what down really is, questioning everything trying to find out what it is that is so real about the real world.

Wow, this is the first piece on redbubble that I connect with 110%. Every question posed is something I have asked myself, and often wondered, what if we wake up in the dream and question the reality? Without knowing it’s the dream. How can we tell the difference? This is great beyond words. Your photographic representation is fantastic. There’s no other words for it.
Daniel Angeles replied
I know, its crazy.
Glad you can identify with my message and idea i’ve portrayed. Thanks so much Andrew.

again I completely relate to the things you say. This made me think of all the times I’ve been completely blown away by the simple telephone. I mean we say most of us never see miracles … or that magic is only an illusion.. but isn’t talking through a piece of plastic through to someone else on the other side of the world some kind of miracle or magic trick. In my book it is. (I know there’s a scientific explanation for it… but even the explanation blows me away).
My answer is there is no answer :D
Daniel Angeles replied
Oh my, that is always my main point i bring up when i talk to people about the miracle and strangeness of life, The telephone and mobile phone. How the hell can i be able to call you right now, lets say, and be able to have a conversation with absolute minimal delay through a bunch of bits of metal and plastic, and i can do that while i’m just wondering about the streets not connected to anything.
I understand to use of microwaves and satellites (to an extent), but it still makes no sense how it exists. I could go on for days about everything and anything on the matter but i wont, maybe in a future work…

Deep Daniel – way too deep for a woman dosed up on pain meds!!
Daniel Angeles replied
Ha, thats awesome. you can slip me some…
I hope all is well.

your photograph is sensational. I love that the shadows are even there around the sofa and feet on the roof.

brilliant concept!! reality is one tenth illusion, or is it the other way around?
gail anderson
first…. great work here! it really does portray the upside down feelings a person gets when faced with certain “realities”. I totally identify with your telephone quandry and for myself, the same question/feeling is associated with airplanes. My husband is a pilot and and tell me all the reasons that such a huge object can fly… but to me, it’s a miracle that scares me every time i get in one, or happen to see one taking off… HOW THE HELL IS IT DOING THAT?
Daniel Angeles replied
Ha, incredible. Planes, another point i spend a good portion of my thoughts trying to comprehend. Physics may make sense in paper and in practice, but Why and How?
Moniquitacute
Great work!!! By the way, have you seen the documentary “WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW?” If you haven’t, I strongly recommend it!!! I think you are really going to enjoy it!
Daniel Angeles replied
Cool, thanks, i’ll look it up.

Great job! :D

I recommend a story by Mark Twain called “The Great Dark” – one of the best dream/reality confusion stories ever. Your questions reminded me of it. I read it in a collection called Letters From the Earth (which has been republished without the story) but I think it is now in a collection called The Devil’s Race-Track.

daniel… just knowing that i know you makes me happy even if it’s only on rb… you are so darn good….. : )
Daniel Angeles replied
Hooray for RB.
One day Mimi, when i go up to California to visit my cousin (Who knows when that’ll be though), i’ll come and pop by.

Daniel this is an INCREDIBLE image – I have spent a long time trying to work out how you achieved it so flawlessly, then I saw the image on the TV as well, and my mind is blown away by your creativity. You’re a genius!
Daniel Angeles replied
Its subtle and i’m glad you spotted it, it seems that we are just watching ourselves watch ourselves, with little involvement in what happens next. Its hard to find which world is the real world, what is the final level, is it we who are watching, or we who are being watched? It causes your world to flip upside down.
ericseyes
Interesting picture and concept. Why can’t dreams be reality?
John Dicandia
Daniel, this is so unsettling! but in a good way. Yes, reality TV is not reality but a pale comparison.
Daniel Angeles replied
There is no such thing as reality TV, its just a title given to a lie, a vision of what the general public want to believe is reality because it is more interesting.
grahampattison
This is really well done mate. Impressive work!
Sarah Fulford
daniel.. how did you do this? I need to manipulate an image to make the sea appear as the sky and the sky as the sea. any ideas?
Barbara Glatzeder
why do we not wake up in the dream world and say the same? ps: I’m with Mimi on this ;-)
Daniel Angeles replied
Ha, you two are just too awesome.
