Part Two

Part Two

Part 1

To Beat The Line:

Fortune favours those of tepid minds,
The genius of few without notice in time
They have no need to express their kind
For what use is it to those in line

All drudge along in a compact rush
Trying to protect from the crush
Lead with no eyes to watch
Over an edge to the endless flush

No way to see
What are we
A genius grows
Untill he knows
Why should he wait
When he knows his fate
A final adieu
It had to be you

    Oh my! Great work.

It seems we all take our own lives, make our own exits; our choices lead us there; some sooner rather than later.

This is fabulous…it is almost the last scene in a short film I wrote & filmed in Aboriginal deaths in custody a few years ago!
    Shattering, disturbing and provocative! Wonderful.

this is very powerful Daniel. (my brother died this way and it’s a harsh and extremely sad fact of life).

  • Daniel Angeles replied

    Im saddened to hear that.
It is a very tragic part of life.

Yes it is… but one that we cannot ignore. It happens way more than we like to think it does. We all need to work harder at giving those in the dark some hope to see the light. I applaud you for this work because even though it will probably be extremely confronting for many people… it’s something that needs to be looked at and noticed! My brother was a truly incredible man… he was creative, talented, handsome, generous, caring… but he found himself in the clutches of depression and saw no way out. It came as a lightning bolt out to us (the family)... even though we knew he was sick… and we were doing all we could at the time to help him through it…. I think we were all in some kind of denial that this could ever happen (or fear). So I guess I want to highlight to others not to be in complete denial… cause it happens. And living with the consequences and after effects of losing the one your love so dearly shatters your entire world (at least it did mine).
    thank you Daniel. ♥

Wow, mate.. what an incredibly evocative and dark piece. The title adds so much for me, giving the piece a troubled history. I love the broken light bulb, “put out the light, to put out the light”, something I was once told by a friend who was in a dark place. The words on their own are so powerful, combined with this shot, really throws feeling at you, most of which you don’t want to confront. Cannot wait for part 1. Brilliant.

  • Daniel Angeles replied

Thanks Andrew. I didn’t want to hold back on this one.
