When You Think About It, Why Do We Do Anything?
Seriously!
It sometimes hurts my brain when I think about Purposes, Purposes for anything and everything, actions, existence, life, heat, gravity or whatever.
I always end on the same thought. There is none, or at least none that our minds can comprehend. We just live to die and leave either a Bank Account, or Debts to be paid for the next, and they don’t learn and do the same when its their turn to come, its inevitable.
One day I hope to not believe this and either not care “Why?”, or find another answer that I can believe, or at least pretend to beleive. But my mind does not behave itself, It fixates on what I don’t want to think about, Death, War, Hate, Love, Sickness, health, Space, God, Human Nature, creation, Obliteration….......
If you try to imagine your Existence a decade before your birth, and I mean really try, Where are you in this time?
If your mind starts to hurt, you are probably feeling what I feel when I think about this.

seriously… this is an ingenious self portrait, daniel…
i’ve gone through that wondering and questioning stages once upon a time….
appreciate today, what you have, and yourself, and strive for more beautiful tomorrow… and magic will find you one day…
again, this is an amazing piece…
Daniel Angeles replied
Its funny, I had the general idea in mind of changing the shadow, but then i got frustrated and looked at my hands, as I do. And It hit me. And Here’s the result.
I do appreciate today, More then you can imagine. I am amazed at everything and I do love everything, and i guess its because of this that I can’t stop thinking about these ‘Questions’. Its a tough thing to properly explain without sitting down for like a couple of hours…..
And Thanks Mimi, Its always good to hear when you like my work.

I worked today with my father and his brother. No money. Heavy labour. I told them that when I do this I have no energy left to create art…..I do not not know if I have a valid point, because I do not have the energy to spare to think.
Daniel Angeles replied
You do in the short term, meaning this lifetime, but not in the long term. Thats just a fools opinion though. Art is very important though, I don’t know why in the slightest and it makes no sense but that doesn’t make it not true, after all Life exists, and what sense is that?
DAMcD
But I should trust the process….
Daniel Angeles replied
Most definitely.

I was going to comment on this pic last night but couldn’t. Your question is too hard. ” Why do we do anything” its a really interesting question, like a Haiku.
A lovely piece of work Daniel.
Daniel Angeles replied
Its a powerful question, thats for sure. we’ll probably never get an answer but its still interesting to wonder why?
Thanks Andy.

When man or woman or child exerts energy, whether physical or mental, he or she must recharge afterward. This work makes me feel as if I have been creating and thinking for 10 days and need to be scraped off of the pavement afterwards – the ultimate re-charge:

Daniel Angeles replied
thank you so much for the Feature….
And thanks so much for the words,
the ultimate re-charge, Who needs sleep?

Great work. Love it.
My thinking is this. A thought is the minimum amount of work I can do. It is also doing something.
Life without a thinking is unthinkable. Life after death doesn’t appeal to me yet, I think that is not worth thinking about it anyway. My experience with this life is that it was not engineered well (darn RB policy… this is perfect palce to use f…-up), and I worry that if life after that exists it may be just more of the same mess.
Fave, though. Great image/title combo!
Daniel Angeles replied
Once i Die, only then will i know what what is true and only then will i worry. until then why spend your life believing something that is most likely going to be false, its such a waste. And if there is, we will have no memory of the past life or nothing will be resolved, so if thats the case we could well be in the second life, or the third or the billionth.
Its funny i was just thinking of a way to see Life.
It is a broken machine, with missing parts an frayed wires, people have no idea and will never have any idea about how this machine works so they have no clue it is broken in the first place. It has been broken since it was first created so no one knows how it is meant to work. its just this mangled machine missing all the important parts but it still runs, just not the way it should.
..... something like that.
and thank you.

amazing capture mate
and the words on the side are real
i sometimes think to much on things and like after a good minute of thinking on the most random of things i just be like DUDE CHILL WHEN YOU DIE , YOU SHALL HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS LOL….ARE HOPEFULLY….LOL
i’m glad you added this to the group …lifeline
big ups to you …colorblind
Daniel Angeles replied
Part of the fun in life is asking the most ridiculous questions, why do you think religion was born. People need answers, and there are people who know there are none so they make up answers for the first group….. Its funny, i think that to, when i’m dead i’ll know, but i’ll be dead, what use is that…
And thanks.
Pip Gerard
I used to ask those questions all the time too. But I realised that I’m never going to have proven answers… the only answers I get are the ones I have faith in and believe in. Sometimes I think too that if we were to get the real answers (sometimes I think I’ve had but a tiny glimpse) that our minds aren’t even capable of taking it in… like our minds will go off the rails cause it can’t cope with the reality of how big and intense the ‘real’ reality is. So we live contently in our little mind boxes of the now… the day to day… wandering out sometimes… just far enough that our minds don’t break down… then back again.
A wonderful self portrait, reflection piece. I really like the shadows. Thanks for sharing.
Daniel Angeles replied
I know there are no answers, i think thats why i’m so fascinated by it all. I reckon that there is no chance we would ever be capable of understanding, it is even very possible that the answer to so many questions are right in front of us, but our mind is just can’t come close to comprehending what it is. Like putting a clothes peg in front of a computer and trying to get it understand how to create a web page from scratch, it will never happen….
And thanks, glad you like my work.
Pip Gerard
The purpose i believe in and have complete faith in… is love!
Daniel Angeles replied
My view on Love is its pretty much the only emotion out there. All the other feelings we have are just a lack or abundance of Love. Its good to have faith in such a mysterious phenomenon.

I love the way your hands and face leap from your silhouetted shadows.
It sounds like there are times you wish you could pull the emergency brake on your extremely active mind. But i am glad you don’t, otherwise we would not be blessed with a fine pairing such as this. I love this self-portrait and the story behind it! It draws me in and gets my creative gears turning :).

Daniel Angeles replied
I would if i could, no doubt about that, but there is no brake.
Thank you, what fine words to hear, much appreciated.

Daniel…..I know we just met but is it too bold of me to say I love your mind?! But seriously…..extremely thought provoking words and image yet again. Brilliant work :)

Andrew Moughti...
Fab work, Daniel, great concept and great execution, really well done. I can’t help but see (don’t take this the wrong way!!) that your shadow looks like a priest saying the Eucharistic Prayer (thanksgiving) at Mass, and your foreground looks like the way some people say the Our Father, hands out-sretched – both are priestly, and your image is priestly because you are enunciating things deep within ourselves and within the mystery of life, giving language to what many of us cannot describe. This is all just offered as observation and compliment, and not to detract at all from your really eloquent description. bravo, great work :-)
Daniel Angeles replied
No worries, the magic of any artisitic image is that you can take whatever you want from it, it can mean anything and everything you can find within it. It doesnt matter what the aritists purpose and message is behind a work when it comes to your analysis of the meaning. Its always good to hear about what people see, you can get new meanings and understanding of your own work, so thank you for sharing.
