Cowra Japanese Garden – Please take the time to read the history behind these beautiful gardens.

Cowra, Country New South Wales, Australia.

Taken with my new Canon Tele-converter TC-DC58C

Spring is the ideal time of year to visit the Cowra Japanese Garden. The Cherry Blossoms are in abundance and signal the arrival of warmer weather. The blossoms come at slightly different times dependent on the winter weather but they are usually at their best from late September for around 3 or 4 weeks. A wide variety of uniquely themed events, set in the magnificent garden is what awaits visitors to the annual Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom) Festival to be held on the weekend of Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September 2011.

Sakura Matsuri is a much loved event in the Cowra cultural calendar. It is a time when the beauty of nature in full bloom and the centuries old traditions of Japan are combined.

It was 1983 we were last here and I remember it well. We had been photographing the kids at one of the local schools and I had a streaming cold. But still we found the energy to visit these beautiful gardens and spend well over an hour just wandering around and taking photos. This is heaps better than any photo I took and makes a lovely place look even lovelier. Great work indeed.
    Take care
    Peter

  • Thanks so much Peter for your very kind compliment! Appreciate! It is a very special place! :o)

Lol!! … I suppose you know this was developed on the old dump site … now that’s what I call wonderful recycling!! It’s also only a stones throw from the Japanese prison site; not sure if they have done anything “touristy” with that site?

    Nicely captured, Blossom.

  • No, didn’t know that! They sure made good use of the site! lol! Have visited the prison site – they have upgraded with walking paths and information boards. Thanks for dropping by – Appreciate! :o)
