Red Hot Pokers – Hill End
Hill End, Country New South Wales, Australia.
Featured in Scenery and Nature and Man
What better place to take overseas visitors on a beautiful Autumn’s day!
These beautiful Red Hot Pokers put on such a lovely colourful display.
Kniphofia or Red Hot Pokers are a medium to tall growing perennial that can make a dramatic statement at the rear of the border or as a stand alone plant. Kniphofia have flower spikes that reach to nearly 2m and a range of colours from bone white through to coral red.
Kniphofia will flower from early summer to late summer depending on variety and prefer full sun and a moist but well drained soil. Once established, they are relatively drought tolerant.
The historic gold rush town of Hill End is perched high on the NSW Central Tablelands, some 300 km north-west of Sydney. Hill End Historic Site established in 1967, is one of the first cultural heritage sites to be reserved in Australia.
