I’d like to share with you one of the many memories we have of Shaftesbury. In 1989 together with our 3 lads we toured England in a Motorhome. We had parked our van near the Post Office at Shaftesbury – myself and the lads waited in the van for hubby to return. A lovely couple walking by asked where we were from, in which I replied “Australia”. They very kindly invited us back to their home for a cuppa and ended up being invited for lunch (lovely home-made soup). Their house had quite some history to it – During the Napoleonic Wars, French POW’s were billeted to serve the occupants (At that time the house was used as a Convent). We were shown where a French POW had etched his name and the year on one of the windows upstairs. We had a wonderful afternoon exploring Shaftesbury with our newly acquainted friends and I might add that we kept in touch for many years to follow.

With the recent purchase of a PowerSlide 5000 Scanner, I have been able to scan in some old slides of our 1989 UK Trip.

Originally taken using a Ricoh XRP together with 400 ASA Slide Film.
