Craig’s Hut – Victoria’s High Country

Featured in A Place to Call Home

The original Craig’s Hut was built as a temporary set for the Australian movie The Man from Snowy River in 1981. It was called Craig’s after the lead actor, Jim Craig (played by Tom Burlinson) and re-used in the sequel.
It has become a recognised tourist attraction within the region attracting nature and scenic photographers all over the world. Craig’s Hut has been photographed by well known Australian photographers such as Steve Parish and Ken Duncan.

Unfortunately, the original hut was destroyed in the 2006 Victorian bush fires. The new hut was rebuilt by volunteers under the guidance of builder Craig Ogier. Read newspaper article from The Age.
