Social networks
Gosh! I really hate facebook! Did I just say that out loud? You know, actually, I can say that because I have two facebook accounts. Yea, so I have the right by association. Kinda like Jared from subway calling a fat person…… well… fat! and then in a non-apologetic apologetic way follows it by saying “I was fat once”. And he is totally excused. So I reinstate. I really, really hate facebook!
I just don’t like social networks at all. To me they are (thinks hard) Exaggerated Social Realities. At least it’s true in my case. It’s really a constant reminder of how sucky your life is. Yes I said sucky. So you find yourself trying to come up with something cool that happened during your day. And in doing so you may…not saying that I did, but you may have accidentally bumped into your sister in the morning on the way to the bathroom, and post on facebook that, I don’t know, you got into a physical confrontation with her. And you somehow pray that your own sister find you cool enough to check your postings so that you can start a meaningful argument on the net. And people would think cool things about you like “ Oooh, they are so dysfunctional!”. You know stuff like that.
Twitter is the worse of them all. I also have two twitter accounts, just so you know. It’s just so much pressure. And it’s not even peer pressure. Just random people that you’ve never met pressure. But for some reason, on some random day, you find yourself very constipated in the bathroom, and while you’re not sure whether or not you will make it out alive from this………….shit, you…umm…, you’re thinking really hard whether this is one of those events in your life you should tweet about!

I love Facebook, lol. I have two accounts also and I enjoy them both. I don’t play the stupid games and I’ve blocked all of that crap, but I am interested in seeing my friends’ photos and updates. The site has helped me to reconnect with a couple of people who due to life circumstances, we’d lost touch but the friendships are stronger than ever. On my other facebook, I’ve met a network of fantastic artists from around the world, whose incredible work and minds I never would have discovered without this networking tool.
I use myspace for band information. Lots of touring information, unsigned and indie artists there – complete with music and videos. Music is also a huge part of my life, and Myspace is a great visual source.
These sites are what you make of them.
As for Twitter – that one I just don’t get. I do not have an account and never will.
I actually love twitter! because it’s a powerful advertising tool and a good news feed depending of course on who you follow.
I love facebook as well but looking at all the status, I just feel like I need to compete and I can’t lol but it has reconnect me also with friends that I thought I lost, so that’s amazing.

Nope, can’t get my head around Twitter and what that is all about… the need for celebs and others needing to divulge their every thought or doing to the masses is beyond me… I can at least see the point of FB, if only to keep in touch with people, but as for all the games and “building” things, that is beyond my comprehension and needing to post what you had for breakfast etc is beyond, BEYOND my comprehension!! lol… x
this is going to sound weird, but I think that people use twitter wrong lol That being said I still can’t get used to it.

Huuuuum I have a love-hate relationship. Love the photos and to say hi to my friends . Other than that I agree with you when everyone posts “I just had a peanut butter sandwich” End of conversation or “My baby won’t let me sleep, Grrr” End of conversation. Twitter" As much as I love Mel Gibson, I sure don’t want a conversation with him. Don’t know what names he’ll call me. I don’t even bothered to open an account there. lol xo
Poor Mel Gibson lol yea and something else I don’t like is when people add you just because you’ve rubbed elbows with them once upon a time in your life. The thing about that is that you feel compelled to accept their request even tho you will not be talking to that person lol

I have huge amounts of fun on FB and enjoy it very much. Like most things, it really is what you make of it. I have refound friends, had meaningful exchanges about writing, travel , English grammar & even about politics in the middle-east. I allow myself to be totally silly on FB and I enjoy it.
I think that facebook is a great way of communication. It has helped me a lot to find lost friends like in your experience, and it’s a great ice breaker as well.
I have nothing against facebook, this was supposed to be a comedic monologue. I think it came off as serious so I surely missed the mark

I like FB…it allows me to keep up with my kids and grandkids on a daily basis, they all live in different countries so otherwise it would be very hard…..I don’t subscribe to Twitter cos I’m not a twit,,,,hah!
