you gave me your tshirt
and i’ll use it to the best of my abilities
to deal with your absence

i step out of the cold shower
into the stifling summer heat
the air is so hot and dense
i barely need a towel to soak up the beads of water that slip down my clean bare body before being evaporated
and there,
hanging on the door
beckoning me
the only material remnant of you
the tshirt i so awkwardly asked for
and you so graciously gave
awkward, sure
but so worth it

as i slip it on over my head
i can almost feel your hands
caressing every part of me the shirt touches
it doesn’t miss much
it’s as if your entire body is enveloping me
rather than a shirt

im home alone
so i wander aimlessly
with nothing but your tshirt on
daydreaming about things that shall remain unspoken

but alas
it is not your warmth that encompasses me
nor the touch of your hands that soothes my yearning body
it is merely a tshirt
but the fabric contains your spirit
and that will have to suffice for me
for now
