Artist's Description

Watercolor on paper
(this is a print)
This little painting here has been my greatest accomplishment to date. Strangly enough I do not think it is my best and it certainly is not my normal medium. This was something I started on and worked on and off for a couple weeks. I heard of an auction coming up so I hurried trying to finish it. The original idea was a girl playing the horn and music notes coming out and the city was dancing (New Orleans my home away from home inspired) but in order to finish it I painted the water instead of music notes..little did I know and I mean I had NO IDEA how much this painting would be a “preminition” of sorts. I finished it on August 28th, 2005..two days before my own birthday and one day before the hurricaine that everyone is familiar with, Katrina. Well the hurricaine hit. The auction was inevitably pushed back. I entered this along with two others of women’s faces. They all three auctioned off yet this one auctioned for more money than any painting ever before at “Serendipity” (auction name). For $1,000 and plus three of our local banks matched the $1,000 so $3,000 went to help aid with our recovery :). So this is only a print and someone (I do not know who) has the original!

Sorry the quality is so poor I actually had to get this from facebook and tried to make it better in photoshop..
