dude… just hooked my 14 year-old up with Floyd about 3 weeks ago. song i chose… ECHOES!!! in many ways it is my favorite work by them. and the “live at pompeii” vid has been a favorite for 20 years. the only floyd he knew was “another brick in the wall”. to me that was the equivelant of “creep” by radiohead – my least favorite of their catalog. had to turn him on to the deeper stuff. he also totally digs darkside now and has come to appreciate the genius that is david gilmour’s playing.

ps – “fearless” is also one of my very favorite Floyd tunes. meddle rocketh… also, as a funny sidenote, we all thought the end of fearless was some kind of bizarre pagan/hindu chanting ritual song until one of our fraternity brothers from wales heard it and said “hey! never walk alone! the liverpool football song!” dude, we are two countries separated by a common language
