The center of an individuals universe is greater than the universe.

Lindsay Blamey

The center of an individuals universe is greater than the universe.

I’ve been living with this work for a while now. As with a lot of my work it explores the theme of ‘One’s Self’. A lone figure in a surreal yet familiar landscape. I was exploring the atmosphere of the beach and how we are drawn to it. The ocean demands your attention and it’s impossible not to stare out into the nothingness and dream of what is beyond the horizon. For a short moment time seems to stand still and everything else disappears, its just you, the ocean and to a larger extent the universe. It is a time to reflect and dream. Which brings me back to the journey of one’s self.

After a longer than usual absence from rb this is the first image I have come across today that I feel compelled to comment on. Simple and clean and quiet (and loud at the same time)...great piece of work Lindsay!

The feelings of smallness that we sometimes experience in such a big world as ours is, is so powerfully displayed here. Vincent van Gogh said in a letter to his brother Theo that we all should go out into the fields under the stars and we shall know our place in the world. That will bring us down to our real size. That’s what this says to me. Quite moving!
