fabulous. I think you probably meant your verse as words spoken from lover to lover … but with your extraordinary image, I see it more as the betrayal the poor house feels against the family who devastated and left it. Beautiful … love the touches of sunlight coming through.

Lois, thank you. i try to make the text fitting for both – the structure itself and my own struggles. i’m glad you like it. i guess the good thing about bad times is they make me need my work more than ever.

I agree with Lois, that is much what I thought when I read the heartbreaking prose. The tonal qualities of this image are amazing, it is deep and compelling and sad. It looks as if the house has drowned. At one time it must have been quite beautiful. The cabinets are fantastic, I wish I had a wall of wood cabinets like them, they are wonderful! Is it being restored? What’s the story on this fascinating place? I want to look out the window and see the surroundings…... It captures the imagination.

thank you, for the congrats and the kind comments. i am sure it was once an amazing site. this was taken inside an asylum built in the 30’s – it was the biggest one in the world in its time (and i believe the active portion still holds that distinction) and held over 12,000 people. my guess is that this is a medicine room. most likely this building will be demolished, which is a shame because it’s got some amazing architectural features. our priorities just are not on preserving our own past.
