The Common Agama, Red-headed Rock Agama, or Rainbow Agama Lizard is found in most of Subsaharan Africa.
It can often be seen in the heat of the day. In the breeding season, the males develop their most dramatic markings, the head & neck, & even tail turn bright orange, & the body dark blue. Outside of the breeding season, the male is a plain brown.
This one I got a shot of on the side of the swimming pool, basking in the hot Kenyan mid-afternoon sun at Severin Safari Camp in the middle of Tsavo National Park.
