Elizabeth McQueen
Profile
Elizabeth McQueen’s art runs the gamut from serious to zany, and deals with the issues of depression, community, and the many little things that get forgotten in a busy world.
Sometimes irreverent and always accessible, Elizabeth’s painting displays a deceptively naïve sense of beauty, often following animal characters as they face symbolic challenges among fields of bold colour.
Elizabeth trained in graphic design at Swinburne University, and has worked as artist’s assistant for well-known sculptor Deborah Halpern on several exhibitions and commissioned works. She has exhibited at Roar 2 and the Fringe Festival, and her work was featured at the 2005 Double Dialogues symposium hosted by Melbourne University. Elizabeth’s painting Small Gestures I ‘The Ball’ was runner-up in the 2006 Mental Health Foundation poster competition.
