There is definitely something weird about this image.
I’m a hard science man – no ghosts, no pixies, no god. And yet this wouldn’t be the first time I’ve created an image that seems to have something otherworldly or even spiritual about it. It’s possible you don’t pick up the whole vibe until these chestnuts/sea creatures/space beings are printed larger than a human head.

What I notice is that everyone who walks into this room, be they friends, relatives, plumbers or postmen, stop in their tracks and say things like, “What is it?”,“Did you make this?”.
I am drawn towards anthropomorphism, fascinated by this sort of metaphorical mirror. There is a suggestion of something alive, something conscious looking back out at us from those semi-opaque eyes, or clouded visors.
As creatures our evolution has marooned us on a lonely peak of self awareness. So we thrill when looking directly into the eye of a dolphin, a whale or even a squid, imagining some sort of meeting of minds.
I asked my mother (a fairly grounded person, though with good instinctive antennae) what title would suit this work and she said “Heaven or Hell?”(!)
