I had to pull over and shoot this big red barn in Quechee, Vermont. With my vehicle taking up one side of the road and my tripod set up on the other side, I am lucky neither was hit by passing trucks!
i like your tale about blocking the road. sometimes you gotta do what it takes :) well worth the risk here. beautiful red barn in the snow. great shadow detail too. superb.
Thanks, JK. When I see this photo I remember the trepidation as I was in a dangerous place, but had to get the shot! Probably stupido! but I lived to post the picture :)
Fantastic! Love the light on this! I know what you mean about the “danger of photographing barns!” lol I live where there are so many, here in northwest Illinois. Not sure why, but the rule of thumb seems to be that the more beautiful the barn, the less likelihood of any shoulder on the road! This one is indeed a beauty. Instant Fave! Congratulations on the Feature, too!
Thank you, Nadya! So true about the difficulty of pulling over to take a shot – especially with snow banks! I have wondered about carrying a few construction orange cones to warn drivers that there is a photographer ahead!
